Steel Pipe Drink Trolley

Cappellini

Originally designed in 1968, the Steel Pipe Drink Trolley, by Shiro Kuramata, is still strikingly contemporary, a reflection of the research in which form and function are immediately evident, but contradistinguished by the refined aesthetics of the celebrated designer who, here, makes a clear reference to the curves of the Sofa With Arms.

By virtue of the decades-long collaboration with Shiro Kuramata – after his passing through the namesake foundation dedicated to continuing the philological studies of the artist/designer’s innumerable projects – in 2014 a surprisingly simple and intuitive new object was born: a cart on wheels with a frame made of iron tubes varnished with black mattee finish epoxy powder and shelves in white laminate, with mattee black carters and wheels made of grey plastic, suitable for delicate surfaces. This iconic project is available in the hues that most characterize the designer’s works.
